THAYA opens its new winery, hotel and restaurant complex
Not far from Znojmo, near the Austrian border in the village of Havraníky, a distinctive complex of winery, hotel and restaurant called THAYA has been built.
“We are in a unique region where wine thrives. Last year we celebrated ten years of our winery. Our annual production is currently 200,000 bottles a year. And one of our goals was to create a place where we could invite everyone. A place where you can taste our wines, experience great gastronomy, relax in a stylish hotel and recharge your batteries in the garden that completes the complex. Welcome to the THAYA winery,” says Josef Trávníček, owner of the THAYA restaurant, winery and hotel.
The design of the complex was created by architect Jakub Cigler, who runs one of the best architectural studios in the Czech Republic. The complex is divided into two parts: the working yard of the winery and the area for relaxation and wine tourism. Both of these yards are divided by the building of the former granary, which was built in 1962. The granary is surrounded by other buildings and the whole is reminiscent of a classic Moravian village. At first sight, the roofs of the halls, with their undulations, resemble the waves of the river Dyje, as well as the surrounding undulating landscape. The roof is made of classic rural materials such as wooden trusses and traditional roofing material – beaverwood. The roof is smoothly connected to the artificial hill above the tasting cellars on one side and above the apartments on the other side.
The complex includes the Apri restaurant. It will offer local ingredients: venison from local forests, meat from Czech farms, local freshwater fish, all seasoned with herbs grown in the complex.

The tasting rooms are reminiscent of a wine cellar. The stylish rooms with a terrace overlook the greenery. Hobbit village or wine cellars? Everyone sees their own in our exclusive outdoor rooms. We wanted the night spent here to be a unique experience. Whether you come to us for premium wine with your family, want to have fun with friends or are planning a romantic surprise for your partner. “We offer accommodation for up to 80 people. We believe that THAYA will be attractive not only for individuals, but thanks to the congress hall also for corporate clients and larger groups of customers,” comments Jan Zifčák, THAYA hotel manager. In the restaurant, hotel and winery complex, visitors will be cared for by 60 employees, ranging from catering, management, winery and service staff.

The processing of the grapes and all the production processes of THAYA wine are moved to the new complex.
We give back to nature what it has given us. We farm with respect for the land and water. We look after 105 hectares of our own vineyards. They are located in the immediate vicinity of the winery and in the neighbouring wine-growing villages – namely Hnanice, Šatov, Havraníky, Vrbovec and Dyjákovičky. Our vineyards are located in the Znojmo wine sub-region, a region typical for its full-flavoured and fresh wines. In addition to centuries of experience of our ancestors, we owe this to the ideal natural and climatic conditions. It is the river Dyje (THAYA in German), which, with its thermoregulatory influence, together with the cold winds from the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, gives the local wines their unmistakable spicy taste and fullness. Sunny days alternate with cold nights in our vineyards. As a result, the grapes ripen more slowly, but retain their aromatic substances and acids. Virtually all varieties thrive here. Thanks to the granite bedrock and the loess with a mixture of calcareous clay, Veltliner, Sauvignon and Riesling are particularly outstanding.
“A great deal of work is behind us. I would like to thank all those who participated in the realization of our new complex. Especially my family, colleagues, partners, suppliers and everyone who supported us. It has been years of hard work, thanks to which we can now invite everyone to our THAYA winery in Havraníky,” says Josef Trávníček.
