Thanks to relatively high temperatures in March, the vines awakened early from their winter dormancy. Already in spring, we sensed that this year&#8217;s harvest might begin earlier than usual. The forecasts were confirmed by an exceptionally dry and warm summer. We brought the first grapes for our sparkling wines into the cellar as early as August 20\u2014nearly a month ahead of our usual schedule. Warm and dry weather persisted through late August and the first half of September, resulting in a rapid and intense harvest in our vineyards. Early harvesting is crucial for us, and we managed to gather almost 80% of all grapes by September 11, just before a drastic weather shift brought almost four consecutive days of rain. Thus, we can categorize this year\u2019s harvest into two phases: before and after the rain. Following the rain, we harvested only the late-ripening white varieties, such as Riesling, Welschriesling, and from the red varieties, Blaufr\u00e4nkisch and Zweigelt. We concluded the harvest on October 8 with beautiful Blaufr\u00e4nkisch grapes.<br\/><br\/>Overall, the 2024 vintage promises to be very intriguing. With the warm weather, we expect wines with lower acidity and a ripe aromatic profile. However, there are exceptions, such as our Chardonnay from the APRI series, which was harvested with ideal parameters for a remarkable white wine.
